Appearance; As a spotted hyena, Shenzi walks with a bit of a hunch in her back on lanky legs, but it doesn't hinder her speed any. Unlike most of her species, her coat is has a gray tint as opposed to the normal brown hue her kind sports. Her spots are a darker color, black, to match the main that starts mid-back and runs up to her head across her spine. A few longer strands sprout of the top of her head, creating a sloppy sort of look as they hang in her eyes on occasion. Her paws are also covered in black fur, sharp claws poking out of the pads. Shenzi's stomach is a grayish tan in color, and whenever she smiles, rows of razor sharp teeth are very obvious. Her eyes are a bright yellow, marking her as nocturnal.

Personality; Shenzi is the leader of Scar's three right hand henchmen, taking on a dominant role when the time best calls for it, and fleeing any time she knows she cannot win a fight. Her taste is a bit more refined than her counterparts', but being a hyena, she'll eat just about anything given to her. Shenzi is also very snarky and snide in her ways, quick to make a verbal (or sometimes physical) snipe when given the opportunity. She likes to think of herself as better than the rest of her kind, though won't often show it in front of say, a lion, or someone stronger than her.

Though she tries to be a leader, she is still lower on the food chain and knows her place. This often leaves her discontent with many situations, though she'll never say it outright where the people involved can hear it. In truth, she is a strange mixture of courage and cowardice, only showing her courage when she knows the cards will play in her direction. Shenzi also has occasional moodswings, switching from overly casual, to violent, to snide, to cowardly.

Abilities/Strengths; Being an animal, Shenzi's best weapons are her teeth, claws, and speed. She is swift on the hunt, despite being a scavenger, a quality most hyenas lack. Her cunning is her best weapon, as well as her ability to talk her way out of potentially dangerous situations. Out of all of Scar's hyena subjects, she is the only one who can talk Scar out of anything if he chooses to pay attention. Her dominance gives her an air of confidence, which often makes her appear intimidating, especially when her teeth flash in your general direction.

Weaknesses; Once again, being an animal leaves her few ways to defend herself. If grabbed at the correct angle, Shenzi is rendered practically helpless and praying that her neck won't be snapped. Her mouth can often talk her into corners if she carries something too far, once again leaving her rather helpless when caught in a lie. Because she isn't at the top of the food chain, she tends to be a bit submissive to those who have proven themselves to be stronger than her, regardless of how she's treated. Her mouth often runs away, and she will sometimes say things that will get her in trouble.

History; Shenzi's life had a bit of a rocky start. She befriended two male hyenas, Banzai and Ed, almost right away, forming their own little trio of trouble. A traveling baboon by the name of Rafiki came to the Pride Lands, their current home, in search of residence. Devious as ever, the three cornered him and prepared to attack, before the King of the local lion pride, Ahadi, came to his rescue with his two sons, Mufasa and Taka. After the three are chased away, Shenzi discovers that they can form an alliance with the brother Taka, who would be denied the crown once it was given to Mufasa.

With her silver tongue, Shenzi convinces Taka to get Mufasa to enrage a buffalo in order to make King Ahandi believe he was useless. Unfortunately, the plan backfired and Taka was wounded by the buffalo's horn, given a vertical scar across his eye. From then on, the trio of hyenas referred to him as Scar, and continued to accompany him until Mufasa was given the crown.

Eventually, the hyenas were chased off the hunting grounds and into what was known as the Elephant Graveyard. Hungry as ever, Shenzi dragged her two friends around to tag along with Scar in hopes that he would hunt for them as well as himself. Because of their past relations, Shenzi, Banzai and Ed were the hyenas closest to Scar in companionship, though it appears he only keeps them around for his own purposes. Regardless, Shenzi is loyal to a fault and will usually do whatever Scar asks.

In fact, it was by Scar's orders that she was to kill the two adventurous lion cubs that had wandered into the Elephant Graveyard. Well aware that one of the cubs was the son to Mufasa, she lead the attack against Simba, Nala, and Zazu. When they have cornered the cubs and are about to finish them off, Mufasa appears and the three quickly flee in fear, claiming they didn't know they were attacking his son.

Thwarted and down, but not out, Scar once again sends the hyenas on a mission to try and kill Simba. At the top of a gorge, the three hyenas start a stampede of wildebeest, trapping Simba in the middle of it. Mufasa attempts to come to his son's rescue, but is killed in the process. As Scar tells Simba to run away and never return, he orders the trio to chase Simba and kill him. With Shenzi in the lead, they begin pursuit, but unfortunately, are unable to follow the small cub into a sea of thorns.

Shenzi does some fast talking upon their return, and Scar is convinced Simba is dead. Scar begins his reign anew and releases the hyenas into the Pride Lands to do as they please. Gluttonous and starved, the hyenas destroy the land until there is no food left. When they go to lament to Scar, he promptly ignores them, and refuses to leave his post.

Simba later returns to reclaim his throne, and the hyenas rise to the challenge. Shenzi leads a chase against Simba's warthog friend, Pumbaa, cornering him and insulting him verbally by calling him a 'pig'. Unfortunately, this proves to be a mistake, as he charges the three and promptly kicks their butts to the point that they are forced to flee from the cave.

Lightening strikes and a fire springs from the dead foliage from below, and that is the last thing Shenzi knows before she finds herself in Paradisim.
